ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture involves inserting small, very fine needles in the skin and leaving them there for approximately 25 minutes. The number of needles inserted can vary, but typically between three and five needles are used. The Practitioner will assess each Patient’s case, and treatment will be unique for the individual.
Acupuncture stimulates the nerves within the skin and muscles, and can produce a variety of benefits including relaxation of the body, reduction in pain, inflammation, congestion etc.
Acupuncture works by increasing the body’s release of natural painkillers (endorfins and serotonin) in the pain pathways of both the spinal cord and the brain. This modifies the way pain signals are received by the brain, resulting in reduction in pain levels experienced by the Patient.
